GT American Race Cars is the Top Manufacturer of
“Simply Fast” Quarter Midget Race Cars.
The mission statement behind GT American Race Cars
is to build a Quality, Safe, Fast and “Easy to Setup”
Quarter Midget Race Car.
Bursting into the Quarter Midget scene in 1999, with many championship wins, the GT American “Original” was an instant hit. This success was followed by the “Wide Body”, “BOB” (Best of Both) and the latest model “GT Hurricane”.
GT American was originally started in 1998, in Fremont California,
by the Golobic family (1998-2006). Since then, the manufacturing
has moved to Orlando Florida with all of the operations handled
by Dean Moslow. (2006-current)

1999 - 2001 "Original" GT American
“Original” (1999-2001) The Original GT came in 4 different sizes: 74”, 76”, 78” and 80”. The most identifiable feature of the Original GT would be the single mounting point at the front of the nurf bars, on both sides of the car. Other items that would identify the original GT would be the left side of the car being straight with no knock out in the driver compartment area. While the track width of all GT Race Cars measure the same distance, the Original has the narrowest body and cabin area of all the GT’s. The Original GT American Race Cars frame is made from chrome-moly tubing. The front and rear body panels are high strength fiberglass, while the side and bottom panels are formed from light weight aluminum panels.
2002 "Wide-Body" GT American
“Wide Body” (2002) The Wide Body GT is just as the name implies with a wider frame and body panels. Constructed of the same materials as the “Original”, the “Wide Body” is mostly recognized by the 4 on right side and 5 on left side mounting points of the side nurf bars, while retaining the straight left side body panels. This car is constructed with the same materials, holds the same track width and identical car length options as the “Original”. The “Wide Body” was very popular for the increase in cabin compartment room.

2003-2007 "BOB" GT American
“BOB” Best of Both (2003-2007) “With over 500 GT American race cars on the race track today, we have taken our experience building championship winning cars and combined it with customer feedback to create the Ultimate Quarter Midget.” “BOB is the GT American Race Car constructed with the Best Features of Both GT chassis designs, the BOB car delivers high-quality performance in a car that is simple to set-up.” Quote taken from GT American during the 2003 model release.
The BOB car came standard with many new features including:
A light weight design that didn’t compromise safety.
Improved left layover design for perfect driver positioning.
Quick release front and rear panhard adjustments.
Improved shock towers to easily adjust shock offset.
Trimble air shocks with lightweight collars and cups.
And as an option for 2004, and standard in 2006, the new sheet metal body.
The “BOB” Quarter midget Race Car is easily identifiable by the knock-out in the driver’s compartment on the left side of the car. The frame is constructed from Chrome-moly and the body panels can be either fiberglass or aluminum.
